Sunday sounds are Monday’s melodies. It’s been a minute or maybe a year, really. But 2016 has been…I don’t know that I have a single word to describe it. Now to get #SundaySounds back on a roll, I have a Spotify and SoundCloud playlist for you.
I’ve been taking DJ lessons…and I’m currently trying to elevate from a mediocre DJ to something where I’m not embarrassed to invite people out to hear me play. Soon come. In the midst of that, I’ve been listening to a lot of remixes, which aren’t easy to find on Spotify. So the SoundCloud playlist will feature more remixes and Spotify more singles/album cuts.
This week we have Anderson Paak, an old Vic Mensa track, Christian Scott, Sza, and my new love Nao.
I love tf out of Nao. Listening to her album in the grocery store it took every fiber in my body to not do a full sache dramatic twirl down the salsa aisle (it’s Texas, salsa aisles are glory), when that crescendo hit in Girlfriends. It sounds beautiful, the lyrics are binding of my heart and she’s an ’85 baby. When we all talking about purpose and some of us are quietly unsure about what that even means or how to find it, Nao is the hopeful current that keeps you pushing. She’s just awesome. Oh and Anderson Paak, even though I don’t do beige negros, is the lover I never knew I needed. Amazing.
